Robert De Niro is also heading back to the arena of casinos for one more staring role.
De Niro is being named because the possible lead in a brand new casino flick in response to the book "Gambling Man" by Gary Green. Borsalino Films reportedly acquired the movie rights to the book and De Niro was mentioned as a chance for the principle role.
“De Niro is unquestionably essentially the most recognized of the actors we're eyeing for the lead on this landmark investment; but we there are several in contention and we haven't even begun official talks,” confirmed Lu Nay, of Puji Capital, probably the most Shanghai China groups funding the Borsalino project.
Borsalino Films acquired the rights prior to Christmas so it's still early stages and De Niro hasn't even confirmed that he is seriously considering the project.
Most of the interest within the 70 year-old De Niro for a gambling-related movie stems from his starring role within the 1995 film "Casino", that is consistently listed as top-of-the-line casino movies ever made.
Based loosely on true stories of tussles between the FBI and the Mafia in Las Vegas, "Casino" featured De Niro as a casino boss who sees his empire crumble because the Mob and the FBI close in on him.
De Niro taking another spin in a casino film may well be excellent news to gambling fans nevertheless it may not necessarily be a sure sign of industrial success because it was prior to now when De Niro was thinking about films on the height of his popularity and power.
In recent years De Niro has stayed active and appeared in 5-10 films per year but hits was few and much between, with duds similar to "THE MASSIVE Wedding", "New Year's Eve", "Little Fockers" and "Killing Season" outweighing rare successes including "Silver Linings Playbook".
